Monthly Statistics on Applications for Direct Issue of Hong Kong Full Driving Licence (2021–2025)
Dear Transport Department,
I am writing to request information held by the Transport Department pursuant to the Code on Access to Information.
Specifically, I request the following monthly statistical data on applications for direct issue of Hong Kong full driving licences (without driving test, typically for holders of overseas licences) for the period from January 2021 to December 2025 (or the latest available month):
1. Number of applications received for private car (Class/Code 1) full driving licence.
2. Number of applications received for light goods vehicle (LGV) (Class/Code 2) full driving licence.
3. Number of applications approved for private car (Class/Code 1) full driving licence.
4. Number of applications approved for light goods vehicle (LGV) (Class/Code 2) full driving licence.
5. Of the approved applications (across all relevant classes), the number where the applicant's overseas driving licence was issued by Mainland China (PRC).
6. Of the approved applications (across all relevant classes), the number where the applicant's overseas driving licence was issued by countries/places other than Mainland China.
If the data is available in aggregated form (e.g., total approvals broken down by origin of overseas licence), this would be acceptable. Preferably, please provide the information in tabular format (e.g., Excel, CSV table) broken down by month and year.
