Student Enrollment in University Accomodation
Dear University Grants Committee Secretariat,
Under the Hong Kong Code on Access to Information, I request the following information for student enrollment in university accommodation for the last 10 academic years:
The number of local and non-local students currently living in university accommodations.
Please break down the number of non-local students by the following regions: Mainland China, Other Asia, Europe, North America, Africa, Latin America, Oceania and Ohters.
Separately, the year of study of each student in university accommodations.
Please provide separate statistics for each university

Dear Mr Buckland,
I refer to your email dated 10 November 2025 to the University Grants
Committee (UGC) Secretariat requesting for information on student hostels
of UGC-funded universities.
The allocation of hostel places among students falls within the
prerogative of the UGC-funded universities, which distribute such places
in accordance with their respective mechanisms. Based on the data
provided by the UGC-funded universities, the number of hostel places
allocated to local students and non-local students at the beginning of the
past ten academic years (AY) (2015/16 to 2024/25 AY) is tabulated below.
We do not maintain information on the hostel allocation by students’
places of origin or year of study.
